Endure24 Is Coming To Leeds!

Chris Sumner

Mizuno Endure24 is now in its 5th year and is organised by Racesolutions. Racesolutions is owned by Chris Sumner who started the business to support charities, public sector and private organisations with the planning and delivery of running events.

Racesolutions work behind the scenes on lots of races around the UK. Chris set up the current Robin Hood Marathon in Nottingham (10,000 runners) and the Reading Half Marathon (18,000 runners) for Sweatshop. More recently Racesolutions has worked on Manchester Marathon, helped establish the North London Half Marathon at Wembley Stadium and re-designed the Oxford Half Marathon for Achieve Events UK. More about Racesolutions can be found at http://runleeds.co.uk/r/racesolutions/

As well as working for other organisations, Racesolutions own their own events, which include Mizuno Endure24. The largest 24-hour race in the UK alongside Conti Thunder Run, Mizuno Endure24 won the Running Awards best Endurance Race in 2015. 24-hour races are springing up all around the UK but E24s quirky festival atmosphere and general antics set it apart from other races ensuring it remains firmly in the race calendar for many runners.

Endure24 is exactly what it says, a 24-hour running race for solo runners and teams of 2 – 8 runners. Most people’s initial reaction is that it must be incredibly hard and only for ultra runners or experienced marathoners but the reality is very different. Around 50% of the runners taking part will have never run further than 10K and a large percentage of those will be from local running groups, gym teams, parkrun and BMF members.

Those new to running shouldn’t be worried about joining a team to take part in this race. The average person taking part will run between 3 and 5 times over 24 hours. You can go as fast or as slow as you like, it’s fine to walk and you will receive great support from everyone, as well as your own team-mates. The gender split is 50/50 male to female. You can run in all male, all female or mixed teams.

The event takes place between Friday 30th June and Sunday 2nd July. Camping opens on the Friday at midday allowing teams plenty of time to get organised, there is also a free race for kids on Friday evening. The race starts at 12.00pm on Saturday and finishes at 12.00pm on Sunday.

Our venue is Bramham Park just to the east of Leeds. It’s the home of the Leeds half of the Reading & Leeds festival which is what gave us the idea to bring Endure24 north. Billed as ‘Glastonbury for runners’ Endure 24 brings a third great race to Bramham Park. Home to Total Warrior obstacle race and BMF’s Major Series, Endure24 offers another great event but one that is purely about the running.

Bramham Park is a perfect venue for the Endure24, a beautiful private estate set in 500 acres of parkland with wide, well-established woodland trails. There will be a dedicated event campsite and race village overlooking the landscaped grounds of Bramham Park with 24 hour catering, massage and showers. The majority of the 5-mile (8K) route is gently undulating and on an ideal running surface. At night your head torches will light the route and as ever with Endure24, there will be a few surprises!

So why would you want to take part in a 24 -hour race?

Our runners take part for all sorts of reasons, for some it’s to raise money for charity, for others it’s a weekend away with friends and family doing something you love. There will be teams who want to win but even more teams who are just up for a running party in the woods. You will meet new people over the weekend in the race village, and around the route. You will not fail to be inspired by the solo runners and they in turn benefit from the support of the teams.

Endure24 is a massive bonding experience with highs, lows, pleasure and pain. We can promise that you will go home with a big smile and the sense of achievement that comes from challenging yourself to go that little bit further than you thought possible. Oh, and a nice big medal!
