GO TRI Returns To Rothwell

David Harris

On the 5th August 2016 Rothwell Leisure Centre will be holding its 2nd GO TRI event in association with British Triathlon. The event is a no pressure opportunity for children and adults to dip their toes into a sport that, we as a region, excel at and what a great time to do it after the recent success of Alistair and Jonathon Brownlee in Leeds on the world stage.

The first part of the event will be a swim taking place in the centre’s pool and then those particpating will leave the building to the transition area at the back of the building, from here they will bike and run on the playing fields to complete the GO TRI – we do what we do because we love to see people getting active whether that’s through a programme, leisure activity or participating in a sport!

After last year’s event Rachel a parent of a young participant got in touch to say:

Thank you so much for organising today’s event. My daughter Anna was terrified, literally shaking, when she arrived, but then did brilliantly, and more importantly was incredibly proud of herself. She’ll never be a prize winner but she’s asked me if she can try another triathlon. I know I must have taken a lot of organisation to set it all up, but we’re very grateful

Rachel’s comments sum up the event and how it caters for all as an opportunity to try something different!
