The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation (YCF) Running Club, also known as the Rose Runners, are getting ready for the New Year with exciting new sessions!

The YCF Running Club is a Health and Wellbeing project launched by the YCF in May 2016 aiming to provide those in the surrounding areas of Headingley an opportunity to improve their physical, mental and social health. With weekly runs, the Rose Runners participants contribute towards their nationally recommended 150 minutes of moderate intensity/75 minutes of vigorous intensity exercise per week within a friendly social setting.

Breaking the social norms of a regular running club, Rose Runners are able to participate in a range of different running activities and exercises around the LS6 area. Qualified Run Leaders are designing new sessions for the New Year which include fun and engaging running activities, working on different styles of physical and mental literacy. These sessions accommodate those who want to run up to 5KM with Route Running but also those who like to run with music in our Anti-Social Social Runs, strength workouts in Circuits sessions, short and sharp activities in Hill Running and so much more! The YCF also look for and welcome Guest Leaders to facilitate multi-sport sessions in whatever their sport/profession/hobby.

As a sports charity, the YCF is always trying to break down barriers and boundaries to participation with physical activity opportunities, which is also translated into the Running Club. The group invites all members of the community, no matter what ability they have or challenges they face. Sessions accommodate all, as qualified Run Leaders and trained Guide Runners plan and deliver sessions that are inclusive and work on personal progression. Within the motivative environment, all participants encourage each other to keep going on their own journeys and reach their own goals.

There are plenty of perks to attending the YCF Running Club and becoming a member of the vibrant Rose Runners. At only £1 a session, our members can receive:

  • Exclusive YCF Running Club T-shirt
  • 2 x YCCC match tickets*
  • Chance to enter organised run events
  • Weekly running sessions from trained Run and Guide Leaders
  • Chance to raise money for The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and give back to the local community
  • Social Opportunities

There are plenty of physical, mental and social benefits to attending the YCF Running Club, whether you’re wanting to improve your running, get more active or be involved with a fun social group. Join the Rose Runners on Monday evenings at 5:30pm outside the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation Offices (Emerald Headingley Stadium), St. Michaels Lane, LS6 3BU.
