Volunteer Call: Neon Athletics Event

Ben Fraser

From July 2015 to April 2016 Leeds City Councils Sports and Active lifestyles team will be delivering a full timetable of Pop Up Sports sessions and events. Our aim is to promote sport and physical activity participation to 8 – 18 year olds through delivering quality sports coaching sessions. We will do this by increasing the opportunity to take part in a variety of sports in new and exciting environments.

We are looking for volunteers who share our ambition to get young people engaged in sport and physical activity. If you have some free time over the next 12 months, we are looking for community champions to help make the Pop Up Sports scheme a huge success.

On the 9th October YOU can be a part of the GO TRY SPORT Neon Athletics event where we will be taking over the Leeds Arena plaza to showcase a range of street athletics, free running, challenges and competitions including;

  • Long Jump
  • Triple Jump
  • Shot put
  • Javelin
  • Sprinting (running tracks provided!)
  • Speed & Agility

If leading or supporting is not your thing we are looking for people to meet and greet and chaperone the youngsters!

Expect lots of other Light Night celebrations and surprises on the night http://runleeds.co.uk/r/light-night-leeds/

From approximately 6pm we will be hosting the activities up until 9pm, meet at the Arena Plaza LS2 8BY
