Eccup Reservoir

LS17 7PL

Distance: 8km

Description

Eccup Reservoir is a reservoir in Alwoodley, a suburb of Leeds. Generally quiet, and a great place to get out and stretch the legs!

This loop is just short of 10K, but don’t let that hold you back. If you have more in the tank keep pushing and get another lap in.

On your run you will be sure to see large amounts of wildlife. The reservoir is visited by large numbers of migrating and overwintering wading birds and waterfowl. One of the main ones is theGoosander, with up to 2% of the British population overwintering here. Others include teal, pochard, shelduck, shoveler, ruddy duck, greylag goose and green sandpiper, while mallard and tufted duck are present all year round.

If you fancy a break on your way around, there are 25 geocaches dotted around the reservoir. Something to explore!

If running around water is your thing, we also recommend you take a look at Ardsley Reservoir route!
